TO CREATE ابْتَكَرَ
Hammana Artist House developed a residency program in response to the growing need for creative residencies in Lebanon and the region, by providing a space for creation as well as tools and professional support necessary for the development of contemporary artistic practices. IMPRINT is the residency program open to local and international artists, with a focus on performing arts. IMPRINT aims to create a flow of ideas and knowledge exchange between Lebanon and the rest of the world, throughout the year, where the hosted artist leaves his imprint in Hammana and Hammana leaves its imprint on the artist’s work. All residencies end with a meeting with the audience.
More information on application processes will be available in September 2018. IMPRINT artist hosting expected to start in February 2019.
Hammana Artist House does not disconnect its mission from the rapidly changing political and social realities artists and art practitioners in the Arab region are currently living in. AMARRE is an art residency program dedicated to artists in forced displacement. In its second edition in 2019, AMARRE residencies take place in Lebanon, Turkey, and France, and selected presentations take place Belgium.
Hammana Artist House creates opportunities for artists to develop their work in Hammana and beyond. Several exchange residency programmes are in place: One with Kaserne Basel in Switzerland, and the other in partnership with Matadero Art Centre in Madrid, Spain. These programmes aim to widen the scope of Hammana Artist House’s network and to build bridges between the local and international art communities.
